Description:

This rhythmic dance activity includes 4-5 students at each set of poles. Students jump inside and outside the poles while learning 5 steps: Bamboo Hop, Cross-Over, Bleking, Straddle, Straddle Turn. Students help others learn the steps then create their own routines. The poles are "knocked" on a three count rhythm - in - out - out! After the 5 introductory steps are taught, then we double cross the poles and have the students jump 4 at a time in the poles. This activity is great for aerobic endurance because the students jump, and jump, and jump and their heart rate goes up and they are having fun while getting exercise. Social interaction with each other in their group is awesome as they teach each other and help one another to learn the dance steps.
