Chaotic Countdown

Description: Students are divided into two equal teams. Students must make their designated colored ball from a set of spots on the gym floor. Once a student makes it from a spot they pick up the spot and the ball, and return it to their team>s hula-hoop. Once all spots are gone the game is over.

Race the Ball

Description: This activity helps students work on passing skills using hockey sticks. One student will pass the ball using the hockey stick. After the ball is passed, he/she will run around the designated cones and scores a point for every cone passed. The team in out field must pass the ball to every person and get the ball back home to stop the runner.

Time Bomb

Description: -the students are dividede into two teams and are told to sit quietly on a designated line for each team
-explain to the students that a space shuttle/bomb has exploded and they have to pick up their designated pieces (blue or Yellow balls) before the other team to put it back together
-you begin with a count-down from 10 (the students join in and they love it), and throw out all the balls all over the gym
-the students then beging to collect their balls one at a time and place them in the basket
-if they pick up more than one there is a penalty..put in 2 then you throw out 4, 3 in 6 out, etc.
-when they have collected all their balls then they sit quietly on the line trying to get a point for their team
-variations: tell them to toss and catch to the basket, bounce and catch, soccer dribble, basketball dribble.
-sometimes they will miss a ball and then one person will run and pick it up quickly
-my students love this game

5 Passes

Description: This activity is a catching and throwing game. Divide the class into two teams. One team will throw a ball to their team mates. If a ball is intercepted or dropped on the ground, the ball goes to the opposing team. The object of the game is to pass the ball to your teammates 5 times. After 5 completed passes, the team scores a point and the ball goes to the opposing team.

Tennis Game

Description: Students form groups of 2-4 players. Each group is divided around a mat. Tumbling mats are used as tennis nets. The students volley the tennis ball over the folded mat. The ball is always hit in a control manner, never taking a full swing. During the volley, the ball can be hit more than once and the ball can bounce as many times as needed. Once the ball is hit out of control or if the rolls, it is considered a dead play. The game then begins with a bounce serve.

Zone Ball

Description: This is a throwing and catching game where teams send two members out into the court to complete passes in each zone that they come to. If they complete a pass in each zone, they score a point for their team. Any incompletion and they are sent back to their team line.

Description: Two equally divided teams use gator balls (meteors) to try to push a beach ball (planet) across their opponets line. The game is played to a set number of points designated by the teacher.
