Description: A very fun Hula Hoop game. Divide your class into squad lines, send half to the front of the gym and half to the back. Each squad has one hula hoop to share. Start half of the hula hoop in the front of the gym and half at the back. Place attacker hula hoops in the middle. Students try to make it across the gym floor without losing control of their hoop, and must move in a forward motion only. Attackers can move anywhere in the gym and try to mess up other students by hitting their hoops together. If a student loses control, their turn is over and they have to give the hoop to the next person in line. |

Description: SINK THE SHIP: Divide the class into two teams and have the teams sit along the sides of the gym floor. Place the folding mats flat along the sidelines, this will be known as the SHIP. Place 20 bowling pins on top of each ship (the mats). The scooters are known as the life boats, and the students wearing the life jackets (jerseys) are the only students allowed in the ocean (the space between the two ships). The remaining students must stay behind their ships (the mats). Place all the cannon balls (foam balls) in the ocean. On the signal the students on the life boats must retrieve the cannon balls out of the ocean and give it to their team. The students on the ship try to throw the cannon balls across the ocean and hit their opponents bowling pins on their ship. Once all the bowling pins are knock down, the ship as been sunk and the game is called. Change out life jackets after each round. |

2008 Haunted House Obstacle Course Posted by: Mark Ricketts
Description: Obstacle course idea for grades K-4. I have half the students stationed around the course as helpers. They keep the course safe and make others wait their turn. After about 3-4 minutes, I stop the music and have the people going through the course stop and go replace one of the helpers. Then, the helpers get a turn to run through the course. This continues for the majority of class. Anyone going too fast or reckless is asked to sit out and loses their time on the course. With Kindergarten, I do half of the course at a time so that they don't get lost. I turn the lights down low to give it a "haunted" feel. |
