I was wondering if anyone had a comment about the difference between regular public schools and charter schools.

I am Interviewing at a charter school and I wanted to get an idea of what to expect.

If anyone would be willing to comment, it would be greatly appreciated.

 Thank you.

Well I work at a public school in Northern Illinois.  My understanding is that charter schools are free of some state laws that public schools must follow!  So given that, how will PE be involved? Might want to ask during the interview! Maybe not as often, maybe in a small room? But also perhaps there is more money, better equipment, better support for pe, etc! If the school has a website, check it out and see if it has anything on their PE program!!

I am currently working at a charter school and have been for the last three years in California. And I do teach PE.  There is no way of getting around not teaching Physical education in any charter school system in California.  Just like public schools the students must complete at least two years of physical education in order to graduate from high school.  Now, at our school they have PE from grades K-8th and then at leat two years form grades 9th-12th.  On the downside not all charter schools have the monies for a complete PE program and you the PE teacher will have to foot the bill for some if not all equipment and most schools will give you a stipend or over your cost up to $250-300 dollars in compensation.  Hope this helps.
