Learning At a Fast Pace is a unit we do with 6, 7, and 8th grade. Each student is given an iPod, headphones, and a pedometer. We downloaded three audiobooks on each iPod for each grade level. The students walk/jog around the track and must get 2,500 or more steps to receive all their points for P.E. class while comprehending the audiobook. At the end of the unit, each student takes an Accelerated Reader test on their comprehension of the book in which is used for part of their English grade.

It's nice when classroom teachers and PE teachers can team up to reinforce academics. Just wondering...How many IPODs does your school have? Thanks for sharing.

Shannon - We have 60 ipods that we got through the Highmark Grant. Apple gave us a discount too since we ordered so many. We originally we're supposed to get about 50 but with the discount, we were able to get 10 more.

I was wondering how you manage all of the ipods. How many itunes accounts do you have? Who is incharge of downloading all 60 ipods. How do you pay for the downloads? What type or ipod are they using? I have so many questions about this great activity.
