Pirate Ship

2 scooters connected and put under a folded up mat. 1 student sits on top of the mat and is the pirate. 1 student pushes the pirate. Each pirate ship has 1 gator ball (cannonball) that they throw at other pirates. If a pirate gets hit, he or she gets off the mat, the person pushing gets on top of the mat, and a new person comes in to push.

Great game. Kids loved it. The student pushing gets a great workout and they don't even realize it!!!

The kids really enjoyed this game. Thanks for sharing. I did make a modification- instead of them throwing the balls at the kids, I placed deck rings on top of the front of each mat with a ball inside of the ring. The other ships tried to trhow the balls at the ball in the ring to sink them. When the ball comes out of the ring- they are shipwrecked. Again, thanks for sharing.

Pro= Creative thinking for kids Cons= Another dodgeball game Lots of inactivity on the sideline Try to modify to where all kids are actually moving.

Thanks for the fun game. I let them play straight up the 1st time. 2nd time I gave each team 7 beanbags of their own color. After hitting a team's pirate ship your team takes one of their beanbags. The goal is to be the first team to get all 7 colors.

My 3rd-5th graders have been playing this game all week. They're having a blast!

Again always someone against a dodgeball type game. If it was a unit then I would see it being an issue. It is how the teacher runs the class.
