Divide the class up into two teams. It's best to have different colored jerseys on each team. The gym is set up with one pin on each side at the free throw line. One red mat set out in the right corner (this is the "SAFE" area), and one gym mat of another color in the left side of the gym (jail). Each side has to have a scorekeeper who is standing on their "safe mat". Each team can score 3 different ways: 1. By running safely to the safe mat without being tagged they earn (1) point. 2. By throwing a ball from their side of the gym, at the pin and knocking it down earns their team (2) points. 3. By throwing a ball from their side of the gym into the opposite basket earns them (3) points. Students who cross the midline can be tagged by the opposite team and they will be out and sent to the jail. Students in the jail must sit and then they can be rescued by one of their teammates sneaking to the "safe mat" then sneaking over to the "jail mat". They then hold hands with the person they are rescuin

The kids loved this one. We had to progressively add each element as the kids picked up on the game. There is definitely a learning curve, but the kids had a blast and can't wait to play it again.
