RE: Students with Aspergers
Students with aspergers are creatures of habit and love knowing the order of the day.  A set routine in the gym will help them settle in and feel comfortable right off the bat.  I also post the daily agenda on a white board where the students walk in.  I've found all students like this, not just the special kids. Aspergers students can be bothered by loud noise.  I play music constantly in the gym.  Most of my students on the spectrum bring small ear-buds to the gym and if the music is irritating them they can use the plugs and block it out.  I think the choice and control of the situation means more to them than the loud music itself. I've had some kids on the spectrum who hate participating in team-type activities. ( team building, sport/game like).  I try to get the other students to help them engage.  If this is not panning out I will make them a personal fitness plan and allow them to work on this during

RE: End of Year Program
How about a fitness routine or workout that the adults could do along with the kids?  I have a similar thing going when our school hosts our "Wellness Fair".  I set up 8-10 stations representing components of fitness.  The families come in the gym and rotate around all the stations.  They are in each one about 1 minute.  All of the activities are things we do in class so the kids enjoy helping/showing Mom and Dad what to do!

posted Where did they go?
Does anyone know where the videos "High, Higher, Highest", "Steps", "21", and "BingO" disappeared to?  I had them highlighted to go back and look over for a throwing unit; now they appear to be gome.   thanks,   Bob

RE: hula hoop lesson ideas
Have you tried the Hula Hut Game?  I teach it in 2 parts: 1st day "how to build", play with them, and a basic build and knoockdown game.  Some groups even do a one-on-one knockdown game.  The 2nd day I add the rest of the game such as earning the hoops by making baskets, clearing out your opponents hoops upon knocking them down, and building strag tegy's.  I use hoop tag as a warm-up.  We also start working on 90 second hooping for PE Central Challenge.
