How do you get observed or reviewed as a PE teacher? (APPR)
I was wondering how you get observed or reviewed as a teacher? Here in NY state it is a big topic for all teachers. Each district has their own Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) that was mandated from the state because of Race To the Top. NY state teacher's grades are based on teacher observation 60%, student performance on state tests 20% and students' performance on federal tests 20%. So if our PE students don't perform well some sort of PE test two years in a row then our job could be terminated. What are our state and federal tests for PE? Yuuup, that is my same question. We don't have any that I know of. Do have any in your state? I do perform 5 parts of the Fitness with my students (grades 5 and 6) and I grade on effort, behavior/sportsmanship, skill and attire on their report card.
